An Overture
Ever since I was little, I have been fascinated by adventure. My favorite books always include the hero/heroine leaving home, never knowing what they would encounter along the way.
As a child, I traveled within the United States, whether by car or by plane. The thought of going abroad seemed like a dream, very realistic, quite unattainable. By the grace of the gods, my grandparents took me to England and Wales as my high school graduation present. The entire trip blew my mind. I mean, in 4 hours, I was in Canada. And then a measly six hours later, I was on a different continent. That’s only 12 Spongebob episodes. And suddenly the world seemed that much smaller and that much bigger at the same time.
The next time I went abroad would not be for another six years. I would go to South Korea to meet my in-laws as well as meet my new boss and see my new workplace. I have currently been in South Korea for four years. This year will mark the beginning of my fifth year. While I have been here, I have traveled to Japan three times, Vietnam, Taiwan (2 times), and Thailand. But this year will be different. My husband and I are about to go on several trips. The first will be to India, then China, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore and Bali (Indonesia).
Even if no one reads this blog, I thought it would be a good idea to record our trips this way as well as to catalogue older trips. Who knows? Maybe someone will find what they are looking for.
